CLIPPER SYSTEM LOOKS TO LEAVE UP TO A FEW INCHES IN SOME PLACES BEFORE FRIGID AIR ARRIVES BEHIND IT

No problems for Monday other than that it will be very cold compared to today. Some places are going from 60 to 30!
18z NAM model run is on course with the clipper across the midwest and reaching the east coast Tuesday morning. Snow will spread across Pennsylvania and SE NY and New Jersey. My thinking is that in Pennsylvania it should be 1 to 3 inches except in the darker green shading in south central Pennsylvania where there could be some pockets of 2 to 4 inches. For the northern 1/2 of NJ SE NY and Long Island im thinking a coating to an inch or two looks like a good bet. You have to be a little careful over Long Island because sometimes Long Island Sound and the ocean can enhance the snows into the very cold air that will be around. It should be pointed out that the atmosphere will be very cold on Tuesday so the snow ratios may be on the order of 15 or 18 to 1 as opposed to 10 to 1.
The bitter air arrives on Wednesday with a strong upper air trough moving though and I think that flurries or even a snow squall is possible as the arctic air settles in.
