Travel Issues Saturday by Joe Cioffi

TRAVEL PROBLEMS FOR THOSE HEADING WEST INTO PENNSYLVANIA OR NORTH INTO UPSTATE NY AND INTERIOR NEW ENGLAND..SNOW OR ICE WELL AWAY FROM I-95

The issue for Saturday will be from late morning until early evening. Im just not impressed by the cold air mass to the north which will be moving out rather quickly. The lack of snowcover into the affected areas also argues away from big icing issues. The warm air surging northward will overtake the cold air very quickly as temperatures rise.

Saturday night into Sunday morning it will be rain with temperatures rising through the 40s and into the 50s.Notice that by Sunday morning the rain snow line is all the way up to the Canadian border.

Across Pennsylvania snow amounts will be under an inch except near the New York State Border where amounts of 1 to 2 inches seem likely. Then it will change to freezing rain and sleet for a few hours but all areas should be over to rain by 7pm or so.

Upstate NY may take a little longer and snow amounts could be a little higher north of route 84 where up to several inches are possible before a change to sleet and freezing rain and the to rain in the early morning hours on Sunday.
