Frigid Air Upon Us by Joe Cioffi

NEXT 4 MORNINGS AT LEAST WILL BE FRIGID WITH THURSDAY MORNING THE COLDEST. BELOW ZERO READINGS LIKELY INLAND AND OVER SNOW COVERED AREAS.

Today’s clipper left a snowcover over some areas and this is going to play a key role in temperatures especially Thursday morning across Pennsylvania and New York southward into Maryland and Northern Virginia. Don’t be surprised if some areas wind up with temperatures near or below zero come Thursday morning.

Temperatures will moderate a bit Friday but another cold air mass is coming for the weekend although it probably will be a little less extreme then this. Still the air behind the next arctic front is very cold and temperatures are going to stay below normal into next week

Models are hinting at possible threats for next week as the European is showing an overrrunning pattern developing in the Mid Atlantic States. GFS model wants to overwhelm high pressure in the east which doesn’t seem right to me. So we will be on patrol to see how this all plays out. It would seem to me looking at the upper air pattern that some room is developing for something to happen. There also appears to be a little blocking developing as the cold high wants to build across the top in the northeast back to the northern lakes. Lots to like for snow lovers in the longer term for next week but as we all know there could be subtle changes and other issues as we draw closer.
